It has been my experience that 99% of people are appliance operators. The CHDK Wiki has been written by technical people for technical people; your average appliance operator would give up and be bamboozled by the information. Judging by the posts on this forum and KAP sites a lot of people who try to use CHDK have trouble setting up the basics.
Based on the profile at the O'Reilly site it seems that the author is a professional writer. He is no different to the multitude of Windows and Linux authors regurgitating technical material into a format that non-technical (appliance operators) people can understand.
