I have a canon A640 with CHDK 0.9.9-889, everything was working fine, then I switched on manual focus and after that no I screen displays for CHDK work. (Battery info the number of RAW pictures remaining and live histogram) How do I get them back?

Try deleting CCHDK.CFG.
