hm, what are trying to say here? i mean i understand what you wrote, but i dont get the implications. do you think canon would read the article and then be pi$$ed?

If Canon sees CHDK as a bunch of unpaid "volunteers" hacking their code--and not redistributing Canon's Intellectual Property--they may (more or less) leave CHDK alone.

If, however, they believe that CHDK is a money making business (such as this one guy appears to be reporting) built on hacking Canon's IP and damaging Canon's marketing plans--then they would be more likely to actively deny CHDK developer's access to the camera's internal code--and start trying to deny links to firmware dumps through take-down notices and such.

Ah ok. As far as i can tell,the only cashflow is taking place in terms of selling complete remote controls,and i doubt that they dont like that.but you are right,we gotta be aware of that.

German computer magazine "com!" has a 5 (!) page article on CHDK in their current issue, also CHDK made it on the cover and the DVD. Title reads

Seems like "computers for DAUs".
But you have to be more optimistic, they answer basic DAU questions.

Agreed. On the other hand: What would the typical "DAU" want with chdk? Most of them dont even know what their cams can do out of the box..
