I am new to the forum, so please excuse me if I'm posting this in the wrong place . I have played around with HDR photography and am now interested in DOF stacking, but especially in combining the 2 techniques. My old Sony Cybershot is poorly suited to either task, much less the combination of the two.
So, after running across CHDK and it's scripting ability, I'm thinking about purchasing an older Canon Powershot simply to play around with. For now, I'm much more interested in the techniques involved than in having the latest camera, but every squirrel gets a nut every once in awhile, so it would be nice to have a final image suitable for a nice 8x10 or 11x14 print.
Budget is an issue since I would also like to by a decent DSLR sometime soon - seperate issue though. So, for something to just play around with and learn CHDK and scripts, I was thinking about a nice used Powershot A710. These are fairly reasonable nowadays. Am I missing anything that would reduce it's compatibility with CHDK and scripting for DOF stacking and HDR photography? Or is there a better (used) platform in the same price range?
