I have downloaded PRIMARY_SX20-1.02c.bin but am not sure what to do next? I only have an 8gb card at the moment. Do I need to buy a 4gb card or less to run it on?

This is a dump file, an extracted firmware image from a camera, used for development.

You can't do anything with this file if you are not a developer.

Thank you for that. Where do I get the download which is suitable for firmware 1.02c from please? Do I need a smaller card than my 8GB?

As yet there is no port for 1.02c, though there is a firmware dump. You will have to be patient and watch http://chdk.setepontos.com/index.php/topic,4348.630.html until a developer works on it I'm afraid.
