New to CHDK needs some pointers

K so I have A530 and I succesfully installed CHDK and it works perfect.  I love all the extra menus and will take some time to learn them all.  Now the reason I stumbled across CHDK is I was searching for the way to have a remote shutter on my camera using the cable.   I have got the usb cable with the battery and a switch working fine after couple hours of playing around with different switches I can find in my house.  The script I got running is from this main website for remote shutter but the only problem I have with it is I have to initiate the script by pressing print and then shutter.  I was wondering if there is a way to just be able to turn on the camera and use the usb cable to go strait into taking pictures?  Even better if there is a script to turn on the camera with usb cable and then use it as a remote shutter?
I am planning to mount my camera on a kayak so I can take photos and videos of my self and it will be out of my reach so I would love it if I can just turn it on or have it on all the time and just use to shutter cable to take photos and videos.  Anyways, let me know what you guys think

Thank you

You don't need a script and you don't need to put the camera into Alt mode (by pressing print). When CHDK is loaded a simple power pulse will click the shutter. Just make sure you've set "enable remote" in the "Scripting Parameters"/"Remote Parameters" menu.
