Yes these numbers were given.
The SD card was inserted into the camera, the Canon screen didn"t get a chance to flash & the camera switched off.

The code that flashes 1.84 is disabled.

Try this version :-  http://www.zshare.net/download/77184502655ce9c5/

If it begins with 2251177 boot the camera.

If it does boot, it will crash when you try to turn-off.

Yes got that number.
Put the SD card in & got the Canon screen to freeze the camera, couldn't even turn off.
Opened batteries case to turn off & get SD card.
Cheers

Do the same with this version if MD5 starts with 0988bce06 :-

Make sure there are no other files on the card.

Does the created CHDK folder contain any subfolders ?

The numbers are correct.
Yes there were sub-folders in the CHDK folder.
My camera is going loopy ?
With card in, turn it on in play mode, but it opens in record ?
Won't turn off, so open batteries.

With some cameras, SDM can automatically switch to record mode on boot, but that should not happen with this build.

Once the camera boots, can you operate the zoom, for example ?

The first few times I could, but each time it did something different.
Now it only gets the Canon screen & freezes.

It is getting late for you.

Try this version if MD5 starts with 7e1b255 :-

http://www.zshare.net/download/77186883b334a65c/

This initialises motion-detection and gui.

We are only interested to know if it crashes immediately or will boot and then freeze.

The camera functions as Canon intended only, no hic-ups.

It is a public holiday here on Monday, for your Queens birthday.
I am a disability pensioner anyway, so week days are mine, except when visiting Doctors etc.
I will shop for some parts for the 'Burp Machine' that thepanoman suggested.
