If you already have a bootable CHDK card, just drag the DISKBOOT.BIN file onto it.

@ colimbm,

A good source is MSY Computers

http://www.msy.com.au/

They have cheap card readers listed in their parts list for $4.00AUD
SDHC 4Gig Sandisk $12.00AUD

I use Sandisk Ultra II in my Canon S3IS.
I have had no problems with even the cheaper standard Sandisk.

You can try formatting the SDRAM in your computer.
Make in boot-able using Card Tricks.

http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/Cardtricks.

Download the full CHDK

http://mighty-hoernsche.de/

You can use Card Tricks to copy the files across.

OR

Unzip the file into a folder; then copy and paste or right click drag and drop onto the SDRAM.
Make sure your file structure is correct.

I upgrade by using the above method. I have had no problems.

Regarding loosing your post; I have done it a few times.
You can write it up in Notepad ++ or Word then copy and paste into the box.
If you loose your post, log off and on and re-post.

Thanks thepanoguy
They are good prices, thanks :-)
Yes more testing, hopefully not testing times ?
Yes I have lost a few postings due to staying overtime on the forum :-)
Mostly when I login I just change the 60 mins to 600 mins, but today now I have selected 800 mins :-)
When I remember to do it I usually just copy what I have done, just in case, so I can repaste it.
Even when you go to another page on this forum you loose the reply, grrrrrrrrr.
So I try to remember to copy first before wandering.
Cheers
Col

Hi Guys
On a fresh SD card.
Loaded as per instructions above. Which I can now do blind-folded & under-water, holding my breath !
I can't get any of the SDM to work on my camera, just crash.
I have got CHDK to load first try with this s5is-101b-0.9.9-905-full.
Cheers

Make a card CHDK bootable.

Test that it works.

Drag the SDM DISKBOOT.BIN onto the card (after checking its MD5).

Also try this with Gregg's 'Lite Version' .

Hi David
I got a the CHDK SD that works OK.
I copied the DISKBOOT.BIN from SDM 1.84 S5IS 101b into the CHDK SD folder.
The MD5 was f245f........
I load this SD into the camera & got 1.84, crash.

I then reloaded the SD with Gregg Lite Version (Bergman3), after re formatting it & making it CHDK bootable.
I checked the CHDK SD was working in the camera. Yes.
Put SD into camera got no 1.84 ? But on screen it has No Image (because there isn't any) & near the bottom LH side is a  prompt ? Click SET to stop. But nothing is running & the camera closes down in about 12 seconds.
Cheers

The SDM_MD.bas script needs to be in the Scripts folder.

Very Good.
So when it is opened in Play, it is in <ALT>.
I checked the Menu & it is there & Autostart is selected. I also notice that <ALT> has changed to <CNF> ?
What is that Please ?
In Record I have on the bottom LH side, Fast MD 080914, which means ?
Press Print to exit <ALT>. Turn off camera, turn on camera & script runs, Testing MD, no shooting.
1 cells, trigger 3.........etc ?? What is it doing & what am I waiting for ?
Very interesting :-)

So when it is opened in Play, it is in <ALT>.

In the full version of SDM there is an option to automatically start in Record mode.
I will check later.

@Gregg
Does your camera start in Play mode ?
.

ALT = ALTernative mode, CNF = menu configuration.

It is the script title, as defined at the start of the MD_SDM.bas.
Use a text editor to look at MD_SDM.bas.

It is detecting motion.
Because we have chosen test mode no photo is actually taken.

Next, copy the folder PARAMS to the CHDK folder.
I previously sent you this.
It contains a number of parameter sets that you can try.
