I've just bought an SX20 and I see that there are betas for firmware versions 1.01a and 1.01b, but mine is 1.01d. What would happen if I used a or b with my camera?

Check the development thread http://chdk.setepontos.com/index.php/topic,4348.0.html to see if anyone has already tried that version.

If not, you can try the 1.01b on your 1.01d camera. There are three possible outcomes:
1) Most likely: It crashes. Removing the battery and deleting CHDK from the card will fix it.
2) Less likely, but still happens occasionally: It works. Sometimes canons changes are so small that the same CHDK works on both versions.
3) Much less likely (never happened that we know of), but theoretically possible: It destroys your camera.
Don't forget what the H stands for.

Yep, and it will explode as hundreds of green fireworks :)
This is not really possible, reyalp just wanted to say that everything you are doing - you are doing at your own risk.

OMG!!!! my camera just burst into flames! :o

Well actually nothing happened at all when I turned it on with CHDK for 1.02b loaded. Had to open and close the battery cover and unlock the card to put things right again. Guess I'll have to be patient for a while longer. Thanks for the help AND for CHDK.
