noobie to chdk setting up S90

Greetings,
I'm new to chdk and am trying to set up a S90 for simple shutter release and/or intervalometer scrips.
First, I had to figure out how to get the camera firmware ver. I put ver.req file on card, press playback, press Func Set and Disp simultaneously and get "Firmware Ver. 1.0.1.0". I tried vers.req too. Multiple presses of Set and Disp yield no additional info.
Is this the right Ver. #? It should be n.nnX right? So I can't proceed to the next step of downloading the right autobuild.
Any help most welcome.
Many thanks,
John

A simpler way to download the right build is to download my Acid program - all you have to then do is take a picture with the camera and drop it on the Acid window. It will figure out the right build (and tell you the version number) and download it for you. See http://www.zenoshrdlu.com/acid/acid.html.

As it happens, the screen shot shows ACID downloading an s90 build!

Cool! Isn't that cheating :-)
You even have an OSX version.
Very cool!

Ok I've made some progress, got the Version- 1.00B (why didn't ver.req work?)
Used your SDMinst to try to install chdk. it does, but eats up all the free space on the card. Do I have to have two partitions?
Tx

...for the file: remove Mac OS' quarantine flag & make sure the filename is really "ver.req" or "vers.req" -  http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/FAQ/Mac#Still_Having_Trouble.3F

Sounds like you are not using the correct chdk for your camera firmware version. Crashing on startup will not depend on SD card brand. See the FAQ http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/FAQ for information on finding your FW version.
Don't forget what the H stands for.
