Hello,
I was trying to find this information but I was unable, so I though you guys could help me.
We are setting up a hardware system, using about 36 PowerShot A590IS that have to be fired simultaneously. We need those cameras to operate automatically, so basically we need to setup some parameters (that's easy) and then transfer automatically, without any human operation over the cameras, the taken images to a PC.

I was unable to find how to download the images through the USB in the wiki, so any advice would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Sounds like a bullet-time application or maybe lenticular stereo  :-

Using WIA-Loader you can transfer those images automatically to a designated folder, even renaming them if necessary :-

I have often wondered how this would work with multiple cameras.

If the cameras are connected to the PC via a number of hubs, you would have to switch to playback mode (using a script) and enable USB upload (i.e. disable the USB remote-switch function) in turn for each camera.

There are at least two other people at the link above also trying to implement this.

This is very interesting, I suggest setting-up just a few cameras while we try to get this to work.
