SD790 IS: keeping LCD screen on; self-timer customization

Is there any way to keep the LCD screen on when the camera is connected to a TV or computer?
The screen turns off every time the camera is connected to another device.

Also, in self-timer mode can the delay time and number of shots be customized beyond the available options?
Could one have a delay of 60 seconds and the number of shots 99, for instance?

Thanks

Hello & welcome, todsaunders !

I've never tried this, but it may be possible in a Lua script with logical events ( http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/LUA/LUA_Reference/Levent )

Using a script can do this, without limitations...

*EDIT:
reyalP published a test script for Lua events some time ago: http://chdk.setepontos.com/index.php/topic,3228.msg42176.html#msg42176 - since the event stuff has been included into the CHDK trunk, the script should run with the latest CHDK binaries...
