Hi guys.  I am new to the world of photography, but far from new to the world to computers.  I wanted to purchase an EOS Rebel XS EF-S 18-55IS.  I can't find anything about compatibility with the Canon dSLRs, so is there any compatibility whatsoever?

CHDK is for P&S cameras only, not DSLRs. There are some other DSLR related projects discussed in the DSLR development forum. Note that these are generally much less mature than CHDK.

If you want to find out what is available for a particular camera, search the forum and wiki.
