PTP Windows A480 Info Needed

Hello,
I'm looking to do some computer vision stuff.   I'm currently testing out a Canon A480 because its a great image sensor for a really cheap price.  I'd like to get PTP working on it to to tethered shooting.  Is there a tutorial for this?

I've found that the A480 has a 1.00B beta release from ewvar which may(?) support PTP but its unclear.  Is there a branch somewhere or do I need to compile it myself?  Is there an autobuild that has this PTP support for the A480?  I've checked out the autobuild binaries but they seem to be the same the released beta binaries.

I've also tried this in Windows using WIA which is Windows Implementation of PTP but it doesn't seem to list it as a possible device.  Is this some different version of PTP that doesn't work with WIA?

I looked around the wiki for a some information.  Can someone point me in the right direction?

Thanks guys.

Thanks for the warm welcome.  This info is exactly what I needed.   :D

Before I go barking up the wrong tree here.  Is WIA probably the fast way to go in windows or is there some kind of special PTP that only works with the mweerden's patched version of libptp for this modified version of CHDK.
