I just bought a new G11 and loaded chdk. Bad pixel script showed a bad pixel count of around 6800.
No, this is pretty normal.
With this large number of bad (dead?) pixels, how can the camera still manage to get a good picture
6000 out of 10 million isn't much. The factory firmware interpolates over them. All modern cameras with tiny sensors and lots of megapixels are similar, and look as good as they do because of heroic efforts in software.
