Hey, Im trying to write a script that will take photos and video, but I cant seem to find a way to switch between photo and video mode. Ive seen for some cameras there is a way to override the mode switch, but I cant find a way to do this on the ixus40/sd300

Is it possible?

Thanks, Matt

Ixus 40 does not support this feature, because I was unable to find the correct function :(

You should be able to work around it by using logical events (lua only) instead.

See this thread http://chdk.setepontos.com/index.php/topic,3228.0.html for the development of the mode switching (and play/rec switching) feature.

Discussion of using logical events to do mode switching starts around http://chdk.setepontos.com/index.php/topic,3228.msg42072.html#msg42072 (ISTR some function names/parameters changed between the early and final versions, so scripts I posted there may not work right out of the box)

http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/LUA/LUA_Reference/Levent describes the lua logical event API

I abandoned doing it this way in CHDK because every other camera has SetCurrentCaptureModeType which is much simpler. You may be able to find the equivalent function on ixus40. Or someone else may be able to find candidates for you to test, ISTR no one volunteered to test this one when I added the feature.

Don't forget what the H stands for.

Thanks, ill have to convert my code to lua, which could take a bit of time to get familiar with, thanks for the helpful links though
