Very long exposure in IXUS 80IS (SD1100)

Hi,

I'd tried a night sky photo, in my Canon IXUS 80IS (SD1100) camera, with this configuration:

OVERRIDE SHUTTER SPEED: 1290 (value factor 1)
ND FILTER STATE: OFF
OVERRIDE ISO VALUE: 1 (value factor 100)

After 20 minutes os exposure, and other 20 of procesing... I get a black picture (any data, that isn't for the darkness).

I'd tryed the same configuration with shutter speed of 64 seconds, and it is perfect.

Is there any limit in shutter speed in this model of camera??

Please, help me.

512@80ISO = OK
1024@80ISO = don't work

I'll try others values between 512 and 1024

All right, the limit in this model is 645 (10 minutes)

When you set up to 812, you get the black picture.

Well, 10 minutes is very good (before we only have 15 seconds)

I wonder if the actual limit depends on other factors, perhaps temperature ?

ISTR that the a590 also gives black exposures at something less than the full limit.
