New video features (zooming, mute micro, AF) are just great. Best thanks to developers.
Could it be possible to have "automatic AF after zooming" option (on=the camera would do an auto focus when zoom trigger is released/off=no action) and for the microphone could it be possible to give a noise reduction % while zooming/focusing (0%=full sound, 100%=mute microphone). Best regards.

This feature would bee Geeky to have. If only this would function without the Magnetometer, it has the function to set the direction North S ....

I wonder if it possible to make more level settings o flash?

I had situation when outside was very bright and inside very dark. I used flash to light up inside, but i had problem to match lightness of this two. Outside was very sunny weather, so scene had extreme contrast. Changing setting other than flash ended with overexposed sky or a bit too bright wall.

harvald,

do you mean "dimming" / adjusting the flash ?

I'm not sure which camera you're using, but this should work in a script with set_prop of the properties
#15, #28 & #29      (Digic II)  or
#121, #127 & #141 (Digic III) - this works on the Ixus 860.

If the flash intensity can be controlled by this properties it could be integrated in the CHDK menu...it's also implemented in the SDM, at least for the Ixus 860...

I have a570, so Digic III. Yes, a mean adjusting flash intensity. Oryginal software have only 3 levels. Integration this in CHDK menu would be great.

<- How about INCREASING backlight intensity, momentarily at least?

Add another vote for backlight control.
A search on "backlight" shows most interest in dimming or turning it off.

Is it possible to brighten it without damaging anything, for increased visibility in bright sunlight?  I know there is the optical viewfinder, but I want to see the menus better.

On my old camera the backlight brightness just stayed where it was set.  To avoid excessive battery drain, could it be timed so it returns to normal brighness in, say, 30 seconds?

I hope this is how we add votes to the poll.  Some forums have a special "poll" section at the bottom of the posts, but I can't find anything like that, so here goes ...

??? Just saw it so I will vote ... but this way everyone knows I don't want to make the LCD dimmer, or turn it off!

a dimmer backlight would be great for night shooting... but brighter i don't think is possible... a lot of these cameras(Axx series) probably don't have hardware for backlight control...

Do any of the other similar PowerShot models have a backlight intensity control?  Owners of the similar models would have to tell us.  Don't think it's to be found in the Canon specifications.  And, if they do have it, is the control capable of both dimming and brightening the display?

I think similar models must have this feature, as a salesperson in a store was trying to convince me, for the A570IS, that it's already in the Menu.  He says, "I think they all have it." ;)

All (ok, i'm not 100% sure...) IXUS - models has this, there you can also long-press DISP to set the max. brightness temporary without changing the setting in the Canon menu...

More settings of picture resolution would be useful. I make few thousands of pictures of sky to glue them later into movie. One in ten seconds. Now i have 640x480 and next 1600x1200. Lower one isn't even pal res. Higher take take more space on memory card and pictures need to be resized after shooting. Proportions are 4:3, what also aren't best this days for a movie.
