Some quite nice ideas. Some really crazy ideas, like "Download photos to Flash-drive (w/o PC tether)". I want to see that one without additional hardware, wouldn't that require to implement an usb host mode? Thats, challenging :) But who knows, maybe the DIGIC is prepared for that :P

However, i have some more (some next to impossible) ideas:
- USB Host to have the possibility to add WLAN sticks, Bluetooth, GPS ...
- Try to find a UART debug port on the camera mainboard and (internal) attach extensions (e.g. bluetooth there)
- Possibility to control Canon slave flashes (e.g. 430EX)
- Strobe mode for flash (even if thats possible, it probably would be very dim)
- OCR with translation, e.g. for chinese characters would be interesting :)
- Support for Canon camcorders (e.g. HV20 with digic DV II), think that will be hard without firmware... only the XL-H1 has a firmware update available...
- Support for Canon DSLRs
- ELF loader (allowing to load additional programs to CHDK without compiling the whole thing).
- Doom ;)

Want to hear some more? ;)

Please tell me that CHDK will soon allow me to Optically zoom an A720 while shooting in movie mode. I would think this is an easy one.

Are you already familiar with Video zoom and focus script? (No, I haven't tried these on my camera and don't know anything about compatibility with yours).

Did anyone tried to make it possible shoot with camera while being connected to PC by USB cable, and showing real-time picture on PC's monitor (camera should work something like web-cam and when you take a picture its shown on monitor)?

Best regards.

Regarding a notepad, I think it would be easy to program (I hope I don't bite my own tongue later)

My question is: Is it really needed?

Because it would be a pain in the axe, to select every symbol from some kind of list or alphabet using the pad. I mean, we don't have a touch screen like the PDAs do we?
The only use I see is to make small changes in a script or something.

Any idea to justify a notepad in CHDK?

I only want one, if someone implements an interface to attach a keyboard ;)

Even this isn't impossible ... someone already implemented a serial interface based on the USB remote code...

would be pretty "cool" to carry a full size PS/2 keyboard to operate your camera :P

We can use "palette browser" for ASCII input just now (with small modification)  :D

i thought of a little bit more "script intelligent" one with list of uBasic keywords/macros, so all you need to write are variable names and literals. Sth like proposals/macros with Ctrl+Space in Eclipse IDE.

More to add/change sth into the script than writing new one.
