What about stitch assist for cameras this isn't enabled on? Surely this is just a software omission in the firmware?

CHDK already has a shortcut to set focus to HYP.

Someone didn't RTFM. :)  Quick-Set Hyperfocal & Infinite Manual Focus Distances

OK, Folks.  It seems I didn't express myself well enough.  The manual says:

When in MF mode and in <ALT> mode, you may press the [UP] navigation button to instantly set MF (manual focus) distance to infinity. Press the [DOWN] navigation button to instantly set MF distance to hyperfocal distance (based on f/stop and zoom focal-length).

It does not say, "and the hyperfocal length will change as you continue to press on the zoom lever to keep the fast-moving beast in the finder."  I was thinking (blurrily, I grant you) of a magical HYP that changes as the camera adjusts.

Sorry for the bother.

how is zooming possible in MF-mode?

SDM will give you a hyperfocal setting which varies with aperture and zoom length. In SDM, set focus override HYP, in Mode AP change the aperture, then monitor the hyperfocal distance and the zoom length for confirmation  of your settings.

How about a continuous AF in video mode?

That would be something on my S95 :haha

I also have the Panasonic LX5 and love this feature. :-X

i'd like to have some optipons to turn off alt mode  in playback mode (many times i activated accidentally raw mode after making shots with md)and some options to hide battery and time

This CHDK is very good but we do need a way to disable the RAW mode completely for those who never use it and never want it accidentally coming on on by pressing delete in error.

Or at the very least, disable that function in playback mode, as suggested above, or give some indication as that what the user has done, when they have done it accidentally.. Please.

Shortcuts (key combinations) to Option, for example
- save/not save raw
- exposure lock
- focus lock
- back to auto white balance
- back to auto focus
- set to a predefinied option set

Is this theoretically possible?

Built-in text & script file editor - actually done;) In script, not in CHDK C source, but included to trunk;)

I would like to find CHDK turning camera into audio-recorder (a dictaphone) with closed lens. Also playing mp3/wav files would be cool, however not really important.

I'd like to see in next CHDK releases:
1. JPG compression settings like in any photo editors in percents (0-100%),
2. advanced Video compression settings, like in any PC Codecs such as Bitrate control (0-10000 kbps), Quality control in percents (0-100%), quantiser control (0-32), is it enough?
3. audio not in 11024 KHz sampling rate, becouse it's resampling to 11025 KHz were distort the original,
4. saving JPG with your own subroutine with correct EXIF fields like "exposure" when it set by CHDK,
5. "ENERGY Saving mode", please !!!
6. is it enough?
Thanks.

Let's see...

1.) Of course any extended controls over video recording mode with the ultimate goal being variable framerate for video.

2.) Audio capture via plug in usb mic, or any other way to capture audio to video with an external mic (you CAN sync off camera audio, but...)

3.) Ptp software tools/support that can be used with Mac, or at least with x11 on a mac.

There's another big one that completely slips my mind right now, will edit it to the post when I remember.

With the Dig!c 5, Canon "bridge" and p+s cameras have become real contenders for quality HD video and editing. I'd love to see some interest from the CHDK community in enhancing video capabilities like Magiclantern has done for the dslr's, a port of Magic Lantern for Powershot's (which I'll be asking the Dev about asap), or a branch of CHDK specifically related to enhanced video functionalities.

Peace
