Hummingbird photos using Fast MD script

Well it's that time of year again when the hummingbirds really start flying around & fighting over the feeders. Last year I was still learning my camera & how to use CHDK & got a lot of photos of hummingbirds at the feeders. This year I wanted to get them at some flowers rather than the feeders.

Finally success!!! :)

These were taken with my Canon s5is using Fudgey's Fast MD script with flash. I wasn't able to get the faster shutterspeeds I wanted due to the lighting conditions but I'll keep trying. EXIF info viewable at Flickr.

And this one taken at the feeder of a male trying to guard his territory.  Exposure override at 1/3228 sec.

Thanks to everyone who contributed to make these things possible ... Ya'll are great!! :)

Thanks! I didn't even realize I'd gotten the one at the flowers until I downloaded the pictures. It was in amongst a whole bunch of photos of just the flowers because there was a gentle breeze blowing with just enough motion to trigger the script. So I was thrilled when I saw it.

Well ... I admit I'm using an old version of CHDK .. version: s5is-101b-0.9.9-885 and the Fast MD script is: MDFB-080914 found in this post. I keep downloading a new version of CHDK but never seem to find the time to load it on the card.  :-[

Thanks! The script is awesome!

The hardest part is picking a spot where a hummingbird might go as I have about 1/2 acre with lots & lots of flowers. I just had the feeling that flower sticking out might be too tempting to pass by. That and it requires an almost windless day.

The first 2 photos were cropped & all 3 resized but otherwise they're just as they came out of the camera, no post processing done.
