Canon G11 Firmware screen?

Folks,

Took the plunge and hopefully can help the cause but I'm having one problem.  Can't seem to find the "firmware" screen after I press the playback button.  It says in the "Read Me" to press the playback button a couple of times and wait 2 sec. but not on my G11.  Just not finding it.  Any help will be welcome.

I was able to verify my Firmware version as GM1.00F without any errors to the card.  I am a Mac owner and employed the use of the excellent app, SDM Installer.  Worked like a charm.

Thanks in advance,

Hello & welcome, Peter !

I guess you mean the Canon screen with the extended firmware informations ?

"Press FUNCSET and DISP simultaneously"

This will only work with a ver.req or vers.req file stored on the card's root and with the camera started directly in playback mode.
On a Mac you should carefully read the Mac FAQ, especially the Still having trouble section !
Also make sure there's at least one image taken by the camera on the memory card; the last captured file should be an still image, NOT a video file.

Dearest fe50,

Your gracious reply has brought electronic fruition to my G11.  I am most appreciative.

For all you Macintosh/G11 users trying to get a "fix" on this one, do as the honorable fe50 instructs...read the Mac FAQ section.  It will set you free!

OK, OK, Maybe I spoke too soon.

I did indeed see the "Firm Update" at the bottom of the playback screen and when I went to update from 1.0.0.0 to 1.1.0.0  I noticed the name "E31" in the lower left of the screen.

When I fired up the camera I pressed FUNC SET and DISP. to reveal what I hoped would be the update.
The 1st screen gave me: Canon Powershot G11.
The 2nd line gave me: P-ID:31DF NT D.
The 3rd line gave me: Firmware Ver GM1.00F.
The 4th line read: E31 and the last line read: August 18, 2009 09:31:45.

Upon going to the next screen I had the same info on line 1: Canon Powershot G11.
Same info on line 2: P-ID:31DF NT D.
Line 3 line read: Adj Ver.003.009.
Line 4 read: SUBCPU SIO FAILED

I reinitialized my 2GB card and started over but to no avail.

Any thoughts?

Please check the G11 CHDK Wiki: http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/G11
The G11 CHDK DOES NOT support the manual loading method through the firmware update mechanism !
? start CHDK from a CHDK-bootable SD card

Thank you ERR99.  Got it working, although it's a bit sketchy in terms of the screen overlay.

It seems that after you activate the CHDK menu in a bright setting, the screen will disappear.  It flashes on and off but you don't lose it completely which is good.

I will take the G11 through it's paces and report back.

Again, thanks.

Hi

I got the same E31 error and I have the same SUBCPU SIO FAILED line in info screens.
What does SUBCPU SIO FAILED mean ? Is this the text for E31 error code ?
And is it possible to clean up the log via some CHDK script ?

Thanks in advance,
Paul
