That is about remote shooting of JPEG files through a PTP connection (over USB).
Probably should add: Without storing the JPEGS on the SD card.

Koshy had a little ELPH which wasn't white as snow but everywhere that Koshy went the ELPH was sure to go. (actually an SD, but that detail ruins the rhyme...)

OK, revived the old FWT testing thread at https://chdk.setepontos.com/index.php?topic=11831.new#new. No problems with FWT on Ixus 300HS
What does not work is controlling the camera remotely. The buttons need to be looked at.

When connected to CHDKPTP the "Menu" button does not work. When using the camera to access the menu "Up" "Down" "Left" "Right" in CHDKPTP do nothing. No way to get into or out of ALT mode remotely etc. Zoom +/- does not work.

What does work is: Rec/Play/Shoot and remote shoot of course. Other buttons don't.

Just to be clear, you cannot send key presses to CHDK from chdkptp, script key presses always go to the normal firmware. You can use =enter_alt() and =exit_alt() to change alt state, but you can't navigate the CHDK menu with key presses or anything like that.

Most keys are ignored by the normal firmware before you switch to rec mode, unless you send
=post_levent_to_ui(4484)

The direction and menu keys should work after you switch to rec.

Thanks. The only thing I ever did with CHDKPTP is testing a plethora of cameras ;-) I expected that one could remote-control all aspects of FW and CHDK.

In Rec mode on the SD 4000 IS / IXUS 300 HS the Menu and Funct and directional Buttons in CHDKPTP have no effect.
That seems a more accurate description of the problem then.

Could you confirm if the same bug is present with current version from trunk?In play mode, buttons work?
I think that the bug is not related to the filewrite implementation, and maybe we can commit the patch.

Will try that. Tonight I couldn't connect to PTP which likely is about something else.
Buttons don't work in Play mode. Only wrote "Rec mode" as reyalp said they can't work in initial Play mode without calling the functions he mentioned.
