Would it be possible to use the video output of the camera as a webcam?

But why don't you convert DNG to JPG, or do your own postprocessing on DNG and than convert to JPG?!?
Yes, this work ok. But with DNG continuous mode will be very slow, so you will not be able to use it for example for sport. But probably such mode not very usefull, so nobody tryed it.

I also would like to have a feature to save JPEG files without any post processing. Fast continuous mode is very useful for aerial photography panoramas. This camera is very lightweight and 3.7 fps is very fast for p&s model. With RAW enabled though, the speed drops to about 1 fps. This is no surprise, since the RAW files are around 15MB each, compared to JPEGs at about 3MB.

BTW, I could not find a software to convert RAW files from this camera, that would work on my windows 7 x64 machine. Any suggestions?

You should enable DNG in CHDK menu and then you can convert DNG even with ACDSee.

Probably it is possible throught HDMI, but not sure. You can try it if you have HDMI input in your computer and then post here your experience.

Thanks, I am now able to open the RAW files in photoshop.

So, back to the original question, is it possible to save JPEG version of the image without barel correction?

No.

It might or might not be technically possible, but CHDK does not currently have this capability and no one (that I know of) has done the reverse engineering required to know if it is possible.

While not possible if using DNG, if you save images to your SD card in the camera's native non-standard-RAW format, then you could use CHDK's "RAW Develop" options to create a JPG file from the non-corrected RAW file. (If these have been made available in your camera's version of CHDK.) Or, come to think of it, would this also apply the distortion corrections to it as well? If so, then if the camera is set to a different zoom-setting when using RAW Develop, then that amount of distortion correction for that focal-length would be applied, would it not? If both are true, then just find whatever zoom-setting applies the least amount of distortion correction and set your camera to that before using RAW Develop.

Could an option be included in CHDK to save both RAW and DNG? Slow as it might be. Then all these options would be available from one shot.

This doesn't solve the problem, because the desire was to avoid the delay of saving raw. If the delay is acceptable, he could just as well make the jpeg on a pc.

It is trivial to convert DNG to CHDK raw after the fact, no reason to save both. This option already exists in the CHDK file browser.

It would also be quite easy to make raw develop worth with dng.

Precisely! There is a huge difference when the file is only 3MB compared to 15MB. Now, the reason I'd like to avoid processing the images inside the camera is that when stitching 360-degree panoramas, the software warps the frames anyway. This means the images will be warped twice, which will inevitably lead to details being lost.

Just to give you an idea of what could be done with P&S camera running CHDK, and perhaps build a case for a new feature, please take a look at this aerial panorama. It was captured last summer using SX200IS.

Does this Camera save RAW and jpg files with correct number in same folder ?

I use with Ixus 1000 chdk option RAW in jpg folder.and when i sort the files in windows by date
before a RAW file is written there are 2 jpg files written.

This happen because camera can do 3 fps /sec and when RAW write to card is slower.on long exposure time, there is no problem.

Have you see too that there are 2 jpg files written before RAW on your Camera ?.

when i compare exact, image content(i move the camera to see better during series), it is that the filenumber is diffrent between jpg and RAW by 1.pictures are always ok.

also the last RAW of a series shot is not written.so at end there are in a 6 image series 6 jpg and 5 RAW.
