Manual Focus Override Crashes Canon SD780

Whenever I put in a manual focus value into my Canon SD780, the camera crashes when I half-press the shutter.  Is there any reason why it does this?  Is there a solution to this issue?

The CHDK code uses lens_set_focus_pos() which in turn uses _GetFocusLensSubjectDistance().

In stubs_entry_2.s, that is declared as :-

NHSTUB(GetFocusLensSubjectDistance,0xDEADC0DE)

It should be  :-

NHSTUB(GetFocusLensSubjectDistance,0xffa94780)

Jason or someone else needs to amend the CHDK code.

I've had the same problem with my SD780 for a while...I just downloaded 943, however, and it doesn't crash anymore. Still, though, it doesn't seem to care what I put in the subject distance thing. It seems to focus on a point roughly five feet away.

Also, I noticed on another Canon camera that there was an option to use the zoom lever for focus...is it just a matter of time before that ends up on the SD780, as well, or is it impossible for some reason?

No...actually, this is what I'm talking about (taken from the second page, section "Override Subject Distance")

These Manual Focus adjustments can also be achieved with shortcut keys. In <ALT> mode, using the Left / Right keys to adjust the Value Factor and the ((((Zoom lever)))) to adjust the Subject Distance, (or on cameras without a zoom lever use the Display button) Infinity is immediately selected by pressing the Up key, and for Hyperfocal adjustment based on current F-stop and zoom focal length, press the Down key.
