setup: a630 +16gb card without multipartition.

in the morning I did about 80 photos without chdk - they were placed in new folder (as expected).
then alter some tome(switch off/on) i decided to run intervalometer and launched chdk.
but I forget about 60 seconds override i did day before so I in a hurry tryed to stop script by pressing "shoot".
of course it would not stop for next 2 minutes so i pressed power button.
result: I lost all previous photos done this day which were in newly created folder.

Of course i could try to use some software to undelete/restore images from sd card but I realised erasure fact too late (alot of sd card overwrites were done after that power off) and I did not have replacement sd card by hand anyway.

I did not try to reproduce this behaviour yet - I did not backup my sd cards after vacation.
I think it is not related to chdk.
Will try to reproduce this problem without chdk with native 15 seconds override.

I'm a bit surprised you lost all the previous photos. Sounds like filesystem corruption. Depending exactly what happened, they may actually be recoverable even if you took lots of pictures later.

I'm not completely sure, but ISTR that my A540 just ignores the power button if it is in the middle of the shooting or darkframe process.

Agree it's not likely to be related to CHDK.

I think my a570 won't power off with the power button during exposure either... I have made similar mistakes in the past while testing extra long exposures and I've forced power-off by touching the battery lid switch and haven't experienced filesystem corruption.

But I have managed to corrupt the fs more than once doing other things (I think crash during video was involved once, but usually it's been due to pending write cache on ubuntu and not the camera at all -- and I've only noticed it after putting the card in the camera and experiencing weird behavior in e.g. the file browser).

Have you tried running "chkdsk /f X:" on windows to check the filesystem on your SD-Card?!?. Its very likely the filesystem only has some "minor" corruption.

Otherwise same behavior mentioned earlier.

I also managed to corrupt filesystem during testing / porting / script stuff...  ::)
