I'm trying to try out the CHDK for the
A1100 IS. I realize it's in development, not complete. In the
porting thread, I've found links there to several versions of DISKBOOT.BIN and one PS.fi2 file.
I'm confused by whether I need the ps.fi2 file or not, whether the SD card should be locked or not, or bootable or not, and what I
should see when I start the camera. I was able to determine the correct firmware version on my camera (1.00c). My SD card I'm testing with is an old, 128 MB one, in case that's relevent.
There seem to be two ways to install/use CHDK, but I can't tell which instructions go with which way.
Others in the porting thread have said that the ps.fi2 file makes their camera go black, and that's what I see when I try the (I think) firmware update method, but they also say the diskboot.bin works otherwise. Sometimes I get a very brief CHDK splash screen but I don't see anything otherwise that indicates it's running.
How do I run CHDK without using ps.fi2? What should I see when I do?
