I think I have no chance - I can try calling ISautoCenter from lua or not.
If I don't do it I will never see what happens - right?
But if I execute it what can I expect? What will be the result? Can I see the centering function on the cams monitor or is it a hidden process? Can I judge the result somehow?

Yes.
I tried using the IS functions with a pair of S95's to set the stereo divergence point without toeing-in the cameras.

However, the amount of image shift was too small for my application.

That build was posted 10 years ago. Dataghost has not been active on the forum in a long time.

You can call the IS functions using call_func_ptr or call_event_proc in any current CHDK build. You can find known functions in the funcs_by_*.csv for your port.
