Thx, quid, I'll try this build. Unfortunetly not faster, than in wednesday, since I'm not in home and don't have my camera here:/. What's the diference between this and previous build?

Small change in boot, borrowed from another camera. I'm not sure if it will help in this case.

@Phildia the 10:00 min limit for video is only for HD video the other two modes dont a time limit as far as i know as i've recorded videos >10 min with the other two video settings,

@quid for video instead of going around/past the 10 min limit would it be possible with a script so that when it hits the limit it just processes the video and auto starts again  with a new video file? sorry if my grammer is bad or confusing

@Vash11779 - You are correct, but I'm not sure why the HD limit is only 10 mins (Canon limitation, OR FAT16 limitation if your card was formatted fat16).  I think it is more dependent on the FAT filesize limit (I could be terribly wrong).  I actually don't remember how I formatted the card I'm using, but cardtricks just reports it as FAT filesystem.  I recorded a 22 minute video using 320x240 and a 15 minute video using 640x480, and in both cases I could have recorded longer.  On the other hand, I started recording at 1280, and the camera stopped recording at ~7:45 mins.  The file size once done was not exactly 2G, more like 1.8G, but the video was NOT 10 minutes long, which makes me wonder about max filesize.  I should reformat the card making sure it's fat32 (4G filesize limit), and test again.

I use a Transcend / Class 10 / 8GB Card in my SX 130is. (CHDK - Autostart)
On Video size 1280 my Camera stops exactly at 9' 59''
At exactly 25 Minutes card is full...
Im shure that limitation of 10 Minutes is made by Canon and not by FAT16 or 32

Anton - You are right (I was mistaken).  I just reformatted my card to FAT32 (no CHDK auto-boot this way), and re-ran my 1280 length test.  It stopped at 10 mins.  BUT the file size was close to the same as the previous test (1,825,218,716 bytes for 10 min) vs (1,801,087,020 bytes for 7:45 mins).  I wonder if canon didn't impose this limit to avoid fat16 filesize limitations.

BTW, when I record in 1280, I get the warning symbol from time to time (too much data, too fast).  Does everyone experience this?

achilles, little off topic but i've did some research on the time limit and got three speculative explanations for the time limit, one is that over >10 mins damages the sensor for hd due to overheat, the second is File system limitation, the third is that in europe (and these were older so take them with a grain of salt) any camera that can record >30 min is taxed as a camcorder at a higher rate then a regular camera,

about your warning symbol though what memory card did you use i used a Sandisk/Class4/16gb card and only warning i got was when it got close 10 min

@Vash11779 - Excellent point (memory card speed).  I got this card with the camera (no choice as to which card I got) and as it turns out, it is a toshiba SD-F04G Standard High-Performance SDHC 4GB.  There is no class rating on the card, which means that it is PROBABLY a class 2 or even slower.   :-[  Time for another memory card I guess!

Achillies thanks for the reply I need the power supply to make a timelapse test.

in the weekend I recorded a video in Miniature mode on the road while traveling and stopped at 10 minutes.
my sd card is a Kingston 8GB Class 4.

Someone recommended me a good script for motion detection?
