Phil said that cameras made in 2011 can boot even from card larger than 4 GB. I would love it my camera be able to do too. Maybe this is the change in the firmware version F?

sure i could do that but i suppose the shipping would be too hefty - i am in India :) where are you by the ways.

i did get to testing them and they are all F's :)

my canon dealer says that they have received an internal memo saying  that SX130 is being superseaded by the SX 150 however at a first glance it is just an SX 130 with 14MP which i hardly require. so i am stocking a few SX 130s so that i do not have to wait for the excellent people here at CHDK to port it. :)

Yes, it would be a bit more than I was anticipating to/from Aurora Il. It was a nice try though!

Hey guys. I'm almost perfectly happy using post #718's build (page 48 on this thread). All the things I wished that worked, work great (super fine override, DNG pics, Tv and Subject Distance bracketing, Video Quality Control, etc). Just one thing is bugging me. I'm a lock focus freak so I'm always pressing Half Shutter + Left. But now with CHDK that also toggles Zebra Drawing on/off, which I rarely use. So my question is, can I disable that particular shortcut? I've read the manual, googled a lot. Guess the only way is thru a personal build?

Hi guys! I'm seriously considering to buy a Canon SX130IS to use CHDK but I'm a bit concerned about the firmware versions. In fact, I know from this thread that CHDK is available only for FW 1.01C, 1.01D and 1.01F. But I can't check the actual FW version of the camera until I've bought it. Any suggestions?

By the way, I've heard that next month will be available the new model SX150IS: any chance that it will be compatible with CHDK? http://www.dpreview.com/products/canon/compacts/canon_sx150is

Thank you.

If this means anything to you, I just bought my SX130IS from new stock at Best Buy on August 6th.  It is 1.01F

I'm comfortable in saying that the SX150IS would need a new port of CHDK, even though it would probably have much in common with the SX130IS.  Others here could also comment on this.

We don't know for certain yet, but I can't imagine the SX150IS, with its 14MP sensor, delivering better IQ than the SX130IS.  I'd be willing to bet it would be worse.  The SX130IS delivers exceptional quality, and even better if you pull the DNGs into Lightroom for conversion to JPEG (samples upon request).

Hope this helps.

@can1
ive bought 11 last week here in India and all of them are version F.(ordered another 15 to be delivered monday)
i would suppose that any that you get first hand in the market would be a F these days. Ive not heard about an E in these forums but i may be wrong.
that leaves B which you can upgrade using the official firmware on canon site.

about the SX 150 the only thing changed(at first glance) is the 14mp sensor. and as long as the sensor size is not increased - which i doubt
as that would require changing the whole lens system - i fear that the image quality will hardly improve, rather it will introduce more noise -
also it takes a little while for the excellent people in these forums to port to a new camera. and another long delay to wrinkle out the bugs.

that is y i am stocking around 6 - 8 months worth of them
as it is SX 130 is more than worth for what you will pay for it. here in india i am getting it at 9150 Rs(approx US$ 203)
and considering that my company is utilizing it for business it get a VAT Setoff of 12.5% which makes my effective cost to approx US$ 180 i have
never received such a bargain in the ultrazoom range - ive been using Olympus SP 500, 550,700, 710, then canon S 1,3,5, SX 100, 110, 120) all but SX120 with official SDK .

at this stage given a choice of SX 130 and SX 150 at same price i would pick up the SX 130 without hesitation

if you have any doubts about the quality of images check out dpreview.com or similar review sites or check out the excellent macro shot by mike a couple of pages back http://chdk.setepontos.com/index.php?topic=5691.msg72261#msg72261
