But I could not save the process and makes it automatic, I have to do it manually every time I turn on the camera.

If you have not LOCKED your SD card, that is the problem.  The lock tab on the SD card must be set to lock for CHDK to autoboot.  You will still be able to save pictures, but you will need to unlock the SD card when you try to erase the pictures through your PC.

@joaosx
@achillies

Although necessary, just locking the card probably won't be enough:

- card needs to be formatted as FAT16, not FAT32
- card needs to be made 'bootable for CHDK' by writing "BOOTDISK" to MBR @ offset hex 0x40 / decimal 64
- card needs to be locked / 'write-protected'

On a Windows OS CardTricks can be useful to perform the first 2 steps, but many more methods exist, see the wiki

hope that helps,

wim

Please just one more question:

To make time-lapse photos, I need some script beyond CDHK?

If yes, where this site can get the scripts?

Sorry for my bad English, I'm from Brazil.

Thanks @whim, @achilies and @fe50

There is a collection of scripts here -> http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/UBASIC/Scripts

You'll probably be interested in the "Ultra-Intervalometer" script, but there are more time-lapse scripts that do different things.  you can also get info and browse around here -> http://chdk.setepontos.com/index.php?board=7.0

And don't worry about your English!  For most/many people here English is not their native language.  You're doing fine.  Good luck, and have fun!

Hello, guys!

Have you heard about serious troubles with chdk and SX130? I mean some messages from this forum (in russian). Here is a messages about the device is switched off with the put forward lens, in some cases the history has ended with gurantee service because of certain "lens error".

Looks like a first time, when chdk broke hardware.

Anyway, i have a little question, and sorry, if answer already in the tread.

My question is: it is possible to create hdr photos with chdk? i mean script or something else to make 3 or more photos with different exposure and combine them by camera or external software?

I'm sorry I didn't give you more information.  The scripts go in your SD cards CHDK/Scripts directory, and you access them via the CHDK menu "Scripting Parameters", "Load script from file". Here is a nice article about using CHDK and scripting (with pictures!) -> http://hackaday.com/2008/05/27/how-to-expand-your-camera-with-chdk/

If you don't find what you need there, read the WIKI's, or just ask again.  There is alot to learn when you just want to take pretty pictures!

Noticed one funny thing:
When the Zoom level display is set to 'EFL', somewhere around 210mm it switches to negative numbers and counts down again, stopping at around -93mm when the maximum of 12x (optical) is reached.
Once you get into digital zoom range the number doesn't change at all.

Same here.  My question is how does this relate to the actual camera lens?  The lens is a 5.0 - 60mm lens, so the fact that it (CHDK zoom display Z: )starts at 28mm and counts to over 210mm confuses me (and doesn't seem correct aside from the fact that it counts back down etc.. ).  It would seem to me that the camera should start at 5mm and progress to 60mm, not counting digital zoom, which I never use.   Am I wrong, or do I just not understand?

EDIT: I did not understand.  FL shows correct values.  I really do need to read more before I comment.  However.. EFL SHOULD go to 336 for optical zoom.

Well, I had a few crashes with lens open, but never observed this error. It seems like something gone wrong. But is this really posible, that this is coused by CHDK? Maybe it's just becouse of camera firmware bug? Or even hardware bug.

EDIT:

I've done some research in Google and there is a few posts on a few forums (for example a few on fixya: http://www.fixya.com/search/p1625092-canon_powershot_sx130_digital_camera/lens_error) about this bug seen in sx130. So maybe it wasn't really coused by CHDK? Hope not, but the fact is something is wrong, possibly with the camera itself.

EDIT:

I'm glad to see the forum working again;p
Anyway, I saw something that should be never saw, but it happened to me. I was executing very simple timelapse script (just shoot and pause in a loop). I needed to cancel the execution of the script, so I pressed shoot button. Then something strange happened - the flash lamp flashed althought it was closed. Neither in script nor in CHDK options lamp was enabled or overrided.

It happebed once and I don`t know if it was CHDK-coused, but I'm reporting it in hope it's helpfull.
