Hi Phil,

I just downloaded your new 1.01c version.

I'll give it a try and come back soon.

Thx!

Saw Achilles post about possibly going to beta.  I noticed a while back that the game Reversi is not quite functioning.  I love Reversi - noticed there are no lines separating dots.  Can this be fixed?  The other games I'm not sure about.

@r1bryan

I've read somewhere that this is chdk-wide. Nobody ever cared drawing those lines.

Does anyone know if PTP support is enabled in this build?  I had not used PTPCamgui in a while, and can't seem to get it to connect to the camera.  The only time it actually connected, the error stated that CHDK was not running on the camera (although it was).

PTP support is enabled and works properly.  I did not have the latest libusb-devel-filters installed, so I was having trouble with PTPcamgui.  All is better now.

Hello everyone

I am a little new to this but I like all the extra features that the CHDK adds to canon cams. I love my sx130 is. Now I know that it's not the best choice but beside everyday usage I wanna do some amateur astrophotography, the sx130's sensor is a ccd type so it should be ok. For this I'd need longer exposure times then 15 sec. So for this issue could someone tell me what's the best chdk version to use safely?
Thanx

Hello Moxican,

After you have determined which firmware version your camera has (101c, 101d, or 101f), you will want one of the latest builds -> http://chdk.setepontos.com/index.php?topic=5691.msg70909#msg70909 .  If any version is safe, it is one of these.

Before you load CHDK, you should read all of the precautions, but everyone is happy at this point.

What's the general consensus?

The last builds I posted have been downloaded 63 times.
No reports of problems so far (touch wood).

Should the sx130 be updated for inclusion in the autobuild as a beta?

Phil.

Without reversi working ?  I don't believe it's a good candidate for beta release.

But seriously,  I've been following this thread for a while.   Scrolling back through it,  I believe the concern was the zoom lens locking up or something ?   Has there been actual bricked cameras - whether or not CHDK was the problem ? Can't find those posts but I'm sure everyone wants to err on the side of caution.

Too bad there is no way to provide an "extended disclaimer" with the release.

UPDATE : did more scrolling throught the thread.  I myself got the dreaded lens error on my SD940 during development. Putting the SD card in & out and crashing the camera with the lens extended probably meant some rough handling and I put the camera down at least once on the extended lens.  Finally fixed the lens error by gently rocking the lens assembly back and forth manually with the camera off.  Not for the faint of heart.  The SX130 has such a mega lens that I'm surprised more people have not received lens errors.  So there will not be an easy answer to this decision I'm afraid - I'd suggest following reyalp's earlier ruling and not releasing it.  Fair or not,  every problem with that camera will now be blamed on CHDK if it has been installed.

But I don't own the camera so I guess I don't get a vote.  Especially as I would put CHDK on it in a heartbeat if I did :)

I really believe this lens issue is overstated. Never happened to me since I bought it almost a year ago, and believe me, I do rock my SX130, with AND without CHDK.

If you ask me, it's time to go beta.

It's still not quite perfect, but to me that's exactly what "beta" means!

Thank you Achillies. Could you please list the extras that I get with this?
