for others here is an archive containing all the three firmware options C D and F
with mweerden's live preview and phils (most generous and lightning fast) latest patch for the pincushion distortion

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=PR174JH0
sx130is-101 c d f-1.1.0-r755-20-full

( sorry for being clumsy and posting all the three in one archive - but im still getting the hang of this forum )

hope i am doing this right ! or is there a better way to attach the file ?!

and yes phil, the slight barrel distortion which i mentioned is present in the regular (button pressed) shots too at wide angle. so the patch is ok.
was not able to check the same with running a script on the camera (never ran a script on a camera, only ptp - but its about time :) ) - but i would hope it will be ok ( isnt ptp actually running lua when performing those functions ?? )

Yes, you're right ptp uses lua to do this stuff so scripts should work the same.
I'll submit the change to theCHDK SVN code repository.

You can attach files <1MB directly here - click the Preview button if you're using 'Quick Reply'. Then click the arrow next to 'Additional Options' and you will see an 'Attach' box with a Browse button.

thank you phil

by the way have used chdk with ptp on SX 110(no ptp, not very thoroughly) SX 120 and now SX 130 and have a gut feeling that the SX 130 version is more robust than the SX 120. although i know it hardly matters (at least to me) what we may call it, in my opinion it is time to call it at least a beta :)

and :) can you believe it took me more than 5 mins to notice the Additional options and figure out how to add an attachment.

one more thing - is it possible to consider adding mweerdens' patch to the main svn - i dont think it interferes with any other code. essentially only two functions added to ptp interface and a function ( though that may need consideration as a parameter is added to an existing function) modified.

however if it feels fit to add to the main trunk it will go a long way in making the ptp interface complete with the live preview.

although it is easy enough to patch manually, for whoever wants it, i dont know how the system works or how new features are added to the main trunk. but the whole CHDK is fantastic and reminds me of Asimov's  Second Foundation where the second foundationers make changes to the original plan by hari sheldon using the prime radiant :)

Post the patch (or link) and I'll take a look.

Thanks, I found the patch and program earlier today.
Been testing it on the G12 - the live view is Ok; but the overlay needs work to be consistent across cameras.

true phil i have not looked into that because i am not using the overlay for the moment

however i think the only part which needs a little work is the palette for rather than the overlay itself - meweerden has provided the function for the overlay palette for those cameras others i think he did not have for expermentation.

Greetings,

I'm just getting ready to install CHDK but I'd sure like to know what features will be added by default.  The Wiki page http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/SX130 doesn't mention or list which specific functions are added, although I realize this may change from build to build.  Is there a current list posted somewhere?  Many thanks,

Mike

Hi Mike, and Welcome,

When you say "added by default", I'm not sure if you are referring to how many features you will get, or what will change on your camera after you load CHDK.

Let's start with what will change on your camera.  After properly loading CHDK and booting it, there should be no immediate difference in camera function (other than your face detect button working differently and a different image on boot).  If you set your camera for manual, with flash on, ISO 800, etc.. that is what you get.

Now let's talk about CHDK.  The CHDK capabilities are only limited by the camera model.  Our SX130IS does not have an ND filter, so CHDK functions that use or change ND filter settings do not apply.  We do have a flash, so using CHDK, even if your flash is open and set for auto you can tell your camera not to use it.  The same applies for nearly all other camera functions (ISO, Shutter, etc..).

And so, I would have to say that you get all of the features by default, but you have to tell CHDK to use them.

Hope it helps!
