Hi Guys,
I installed the current available version of CHDK for my SX130IS. but if I insert memory card with locked position, camera wont turn on only and If I unlock the card then camera will work. now I removed CHDK from memory card and it turns on even in Locked mode.

Pls help.

hello vinay your firmware and chdk version are not matching.

there are 3 firmware versions for the SX 130 for which CHDK is available
the 101c 101d and the 101f

check your camera firmware version and load the appropriate version

keeping the card in the unlocked position will not load CHDK.

Is there a reason why there is not also the version 101e? It is the only version which is on canon update page. I would like to change the firmware because it repairs some issues, but I cannot according to the fact there is not a version for 101e. :/

Probably because nobody with the skills and time to port that version actually owns that camera ?  Or nobody with that camera has talked somebody into porting it ?

I don't think that there is really a firmware version 101e.  The firmware update on Canons page is for the 101c firmware update (what we all started with), even though it is called pssx130is-1010-e.exe.

I posted a question related to this somewhere a few months ago, but ended up downloading and trying to install it anyway.  The camera reported that I already had this firmware.

maybe that they just uploaded  the old file  there by mistake? What about news in versions D and F, do you know what  things were changed/repaired? Is there a way to upgrade the camera unofficially?

No, if you download the file at the bottom of the link I provided, it is named pssx130is-1010-e.exe.  If you unpack that file, the dates are all pre-september 2010.  This is not a new update.

With regards to what was changed in FW versions D and F, I'm not sure that anyone knows the exact changes, but with 1010-e.exe, all of the changes are outlined in that link.. I suspect that 101c users will forever be 101c users.

i would hope not much was changed in each version as phil notes that almost the whole thing has shifted by around 16 bytes from D to F and there must be a  similar change from C to D.

if indeed there is a  version E which i still doubt i would suggest making a firmware dump so that the gurus like phil can look in to making a port for it as well

all the SX 130 i tested were verson F ( still have around 6 lying with me which i have not yet tested ) but i am sure they are F as well :)

Thanks guys its working now !!
I installed version 101c and now chdk loads in my camera. I have checked almost 80% of all features and they all are working absolutely fine..I tried various overloads,scripts,OSD Parameters,RAW etc..

many many thanks for developing..
