Hi, seems the thread is almost one year old, but i hope to get the reply.

I want to install CDCK in my powershot SX130IS. I did all the procedure i.e, put all files in root directory of memory card, go to playback mode, etc.. While pressing menu for the first time there is menu "Firm update...", when i try to do firm update, then my camera powers goes off by itself and no longer comes to life. I have to reinsert batteries and restart for normal operation. I am unable to load CDCK.

My firmware version is GM 1.00A(1.0.0.0). Could you guys help me to figure out the problem? Is formatting of SD card necessary to install this addon? BTW it is formatted in FAT 32 for now.

Hello & welcome, joaosx !

My firmware is GM1.01C
This is last ? or have to upgrade to use CDHK?
Note - CHDK is not a firmware, just a software addon...

I tried installing the CDHK but could not open the option of upgrading firmware on the menu.
Expand the CHDK zip package from the download server to the root folder of your SD card, then power on your camera in playback mode using the [>] button - now enter the Canon menu & scroll down...

This is actually good - it means you have done all the steps correctly but are using the wrong firmware version.

Probably not.  Read this :

link> Determining the firmware version in your camera.

Particulary the part where it says : Note: your camera's firmware version is NOT 1.0.0.0 or 1.0.1.0 !

I recommend you follow these steps :

I tried the 'Acid'. It says the version is 1.00A and there is no CHDK available.  :( I checked cannon site and they have 1.00e, again for which CHDK is unavailable. Can you assist me to find the required firmware of CHDK?

Seems you really have ol 100a firmware. Canon has released a firmware update for SX130is over year ago.

http://web.canon.jp/imaging/dcp/firm-e/pssx130is/index.html

Folow the Canon instructions. Read carefully before use!
if (2*b || !2*b) {
    cout<<question
}

Compile error: poor Yorick

Hey there,

i discovered a strange behavior on my cameras, as i try to zoom via USB.
For now i use the click"zoom_in" command, which actually works great.
BUT they don't zoom in equal steps!?  :-[

As i tried the set_zoom command some crash immediately, the rest off them at the second zoom step.
I tried to add the set_aflock command, which causes a crash right away.
All use the same firmware and chdk version and script.

The setup is controlled with an PLC (5ms response time) and switched with a relay right before every camera.
So i would rule out hardware discrepancies.

Any thoughts or ideas?

Might be something like this :

link> set_zoom problems in uBASIC & Lua scripts

tl;dr > a zoom problem exists and was solved for some cameras (like my G10) but not others ( SD940, SD780 etc )

Update :  maybe not the same problem : http://chdk.setepontos.com/index.php?topic=7071.msg76177#msg76177

Hey guys, i am needing to use the remote capture in my camera to take too close pictures of tiny eggs of animals for my college project. The camera is fixed in a suport with a machine that moves the eggs on a small frame pushed by a mat. Along the way the camera takes three photos to get a panoramic view of the frame. I need to take this photos from my computer with the capture remote mode. Somebody can help me?

the c version of chdk (753kb) states that it can enable a remote shutter via usb. havent tested this feature though
but you can use countdown to shutter as well. 10 sec ex.

Hi, is there any way I can increase the exposure time from 2048sec maximum?

I would like to make star trail photos, but I find 2048secs to be very short for this kind of photos.

Yes, you can take more than one photo (use a CHDK script) and stack this images with a PC program. 2048 is a very long exposure time for the camera sensor. Probably you get a sensor glow with this long time.
