Focal Bracketing - SX100 - Advice Please

I've been creating focal stacks (manually) with my Sony H series for quite some time. So I'm familiar with the concept. I'd heared that CHDK could provide that automatically - called focus bracketing. So I borrowed my son's SX100, loaded with CHDK and read just about everything I could on how to set the camera up to actually take a series of photos. I do everything mentioned (from the CHDK site) and from this discussion. And I can get the number of shots I want. But they are all of the same focal plane. I'm obviously missing something.

I need to set the focus of the SX100 to just before the subject. And at the same time I need to tell CHDK that I then would like to take 10 shots at +2mm different focal planes. Unfortunately, if the documentation suggests how to do that I've missed something. And then there is the taking of the shots themselves. I can tell the camera to take a Continuous and Custom Timed series but as I mentioned they are all of the same focal plane.

Has anyone ever documented, step by step, how to do this? Nothing published so far goes beyond the setting of two arguments under CHDK Continuous. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hmmmm. I think I managed to get a stack of images at different focal planes. Using the Custom Timer and Auto-Focusing. The first shot was in focus and the other four weren't. So that's a start.

But I still have questions...

Under <Bracketing in continuous mode> what are <Bracket value> and <Value factor>?

The user manual makes no sense to me for these items at all.
