Bootable card problem with Ixus 700 (CardTricks)

Hi,
I have formatted my 2gb sd card(fat16) using cardtricks utility, and unzipped chdk files.
Then i made my sd card bootable using cardtricks and turned the card to locked position.
I put the card to the camera, but chdk doesn't automatically boot when i turn the camera on. I always
need to do "firm update" steps to boot chdk.  I need help about that, thanks.

When you lock the card, does the camera show "card locked" ? If not, the lock detect mechanism in the camera is not functioning correctly, and diskboot will not be loaded.
Are you using a Mac ? If so, see http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/FAQ/Mac#Still_Having_Trouble.3F
Have you tried the "make bootable" option from the CHDK menu (after loading manually) ?

Im using windows, and yes, camera does not show "card locked" warning.
I also tried chdk's 'make card bootable' option but result is same. Is there a way to
fix the camera's lock detect mechanism ?

And an extra info :
The camera shows "card locked" warning if i use a SDHC card with it. (regardless of locking position)

Check your manual, but I don't think this cam supports SDHC cards

Also, are you sure you are using the the proper CHDK version for your cam ?
(There's a 101A and a 101B version)

If the camera does not show card locked, and CHDK is not loaded, then the camera isn't detecting the lock. In this case it won't even try to load CHDK.

The lock detection is a physical switch inside the camera, which is actuated by the plastic tab on the card. The card side of this has no electronics, it's just a lump of plastic you can move around.

The lock switch can get stuck, or a marginal switch or card can fail to engage. Some cases of stuck switches have been reported on this forum, and resolved by poking the switch. It is also possible that the electrical connection to the switch is bad, but I'd guess this is less likely than mechanical problems.

I wrote it as an extra info, im using a normal 2gb sd card with it.

I think, it may be a mechanical problem. I'll try to push it inwards by using a small piece of tape or something on sd card's switch.

Be careful the tape doesn't get left behind in the card slot.

This thread http://chdk.setepontos.com/index.php/topic,3374.0.html may have some useful ideas.

That's a lot for linking this sx10 topic, i solved the problem by pushing little metal piece in the card slot.
Chdk now boots automatically when i turn on the camera  :)
