I also noticed that the flash needs to be off for this to work, leaving the flash on needs the remote to be pressed twice once to set up and once to shoot.

I cannot remember but in Stereo menu check that 'focus cancel' mode is unchecked.
May not make any difference.

I guess you could control 3 seperate SDM systems with the one remote.

Well, two cameras will allow you to take stereo images .. not sure what three will do   :)

I just tried it with a USB remote switch and the flash fires as soon as I press the switch.

Can you try it with a remote switch ?

Hi David sorry I am a bit late replying. I tried with my manual switched remote and it worked exactly the same as you, ie press and the shot is taken with the flash firing.

Tried again with the wireless remote and needed two presses to fire the flash as before.

After a bit of thought I started wondering about the pulse length so I tried a very brief press using my manual switched remote , and would you beleive it I needed to press again to take the shot first fast press set the focus etc and second fast press takes the shot!

So this leads me to believe that the wireless remote pulse is actually too short to allow the camera to focus and set the the flash before the shot is taken.

Any thoughts,

Bryce

Make the pulse longer.

looking at my code, I do check that flash is off.

There must have been a reason for that.

I am currently looking at the internet for pulse stretching circuits and will probably use the extra gates on the 74HC14 I am allready using as an inverter. Have to cast my mind back to college days now!!

Cheers,

You can use a transistor monostable or a CMOS 555 monostable.

Hi David I eventually used the extra gates on the schmitt 74c14 but to get it to trigger with the flash I had to got to 480mS (0.47uF with 1.5M ohm)  and even at that not 100% success. Seems like an awful long pulse to me.

Cheers,

Bryce

Well, I introduced the 'no flash' requirement for some reason.

Let us see what happens if I remove that condition.

I will send you a new build.
