Switching cameras without reformatting the card?

I had an a460 that went downhill. So, through canon's customer loyalty program I got an a470 to replace it. I have the build of CHDK for the a460 on my card and don't want to reformat the card to put the version for my new camera on it. Is there a way to do this? If not, I can just put the pictures and data I want to save onto my computer and do it the normal route, but since it is already good, I thought I could make it work easier.

Just overwrite the old CHDK files on the card with the new one, i.e. download the full CHDK package for your A470 from the Autobuild Server & unzip all files to your card. This will overwrite the CHDK files, not your images/videos...

Note - on a multi partition setup don't forget to replace the old A460 files with the new A470 ones on both partitions !

I also suggest to rename or delete your old CHDK config file \CHDK\cchdk.cfg

Thanks. I figured there MUST be a way. I looked everywhere, even Google, which is my friend. Now I have the answer I had been looking for. Thank you so much. BTW - Does it delete the .bas files? If not, then I'm good. From your description, I think it won't unless I make a mistake. Is that correct?

This will not delete any files, but existing files with the same name will be overwritten; in the CHDK full package there are some 'standard' script files in the \CHDK\SCRIPTS folder - if you made changes on those script on your old installation, the scripts will be overwritten.

I suggest to make a backup of your old installation, i.e. copy the whole \CHDK folder & your own scripts to your hard disc before you do the update...
