Can't transfer raw files to pc

Hi. The problem is that, having enabled raw in the main menu, i take some shots and then plug the camera in the pc but the "canon powershot..." in windows explorer appears just empty.  I can't transfer the images using the camera software either.  If i disable raw, jpgs are finely recorded and i can transfer them to the pc either manually or using the camera software with no problem.  It seems that windows is only "seeing" jpgs.

Some aditional info (just to make sure I got the installation right):
I'm using a canon sx20 is, 102b firmware, with an 8gb card wich is partitioned (small fat16 7MB partition, large fat32 partition with the rest of the capacity).   CHDK folder and DISKBOOT.BIN are both in the 7MB partition just as cardtricks left it.  The larger partition seems to be empty.  CHDK is storing images in the larger partition automatically.

Any help? Thank you very much

If you want to see raw files over USB, you need to change the raw prefix and extension to something that the camera understands. This may depend on your camera, but I'd start with
CRW_*.CRW

You also probably need to restart your camera between shooting and plugging in the USB in order to see the files.
Don't forget what the H stands for.

Done that, over the RAW menu. I still can't see the files on windows.

Also, in the script menu>load script I can't see any file or folder inside the scripts folder, when browsing using the chdk menu.
Could that be related?  Could it be that I missed something in the installation?
THanks

Try .cr2 for [RAW File Extension].
If [DNG format] is enabled, disable ['DNG' file extension]
Don't forget to power on/off the camera before you connect the USB cable.

No.
On a multi partition setup, CHDK only use the first (small) partition for the boot process; while CHDK is running, the 2nd partition is the "working partition" - place all CHDK files (fonts, scripts, grids ...) on this (big / data) partition.

Ok. I've seen this on other threads and tried to do the badpixel.lua thing. But as I said, when i select "load scripts" in the script menu, no folders or files are visible inside the scripts folders.  I suppose it's because chdk folder is in the small partition, but then again: how do I make windows see the big partition in order to copy the chdk files there?
Is there any other post there that shows the best way to partition and manage this partitions in windows? I used Paragon partition magic to do this: I got the small fat16 partition mounted, the rest of the unallocated space was paritioned as fat32 but it's impossible to mount. Nevetheless It's usable since CHDK stores images there.  I'm a bit confused.... Help??
Thank you very much

@frolic_too

You can use the SDMInstaller to swap the partitions on a MS Windows system...

* http://chdk.setepontos.com/index.php/topic,2468.msg30911.html#msg30911

...with CHDK running, you can also swap the partitions from the CHDK misc. menu;
since the SX20 doesn't support CHDK's manual loading method, you may use the SDMInstaller to swap the partitions back again... --> http://chdk.setepontos.com/index.php/topic,2468.msg36022.html#msg36022

--> use a card reader, swap the partitions, expand all files from the CHDK download package to the data (big) partition

all right i'll check SDMInstaller and let you know if there's any trouble.

What's the problem with using the camera plugged directly to the pc, instead of a card reader?

Thanks

As you have noticed, the USB connection (PTP protocol) is very limited. You can't use it to copy files to other locations in the camera (except using the CHDK PTP extension, but that is even more complicated that using a card reader at the moment)
Don't forget what the H stands for.

Ok, thanks.  So I'm about to try the SDMInstaller to switch partitions and copy CHDK into the larger partition.  I'll be using a netbook, my desktop doesn't have a card reader.
Would one of those USB/SD adaptors work the same as a card reader?
Thank you all again
