I think there was a comment about this somewhere but I can't find it.

With the live preview data, such as the motion detection uses, is that raw data before the camera adds any gain for bright light situations etc? Just need to make sure for a script idea.

it seems camera firmware do something with data before displaying them to LCD
I think it highlights picture in dark environment.

Okay that's what I thought. It makes it hard to use as an exposure meter like mx3 was talking about then doesn't it.

I was looking at the property cases 100 and 101 which change with varying light, but there doesn't seem to be a correlation between light intensity and the values.
