Yes, it does work in Photo Mode too.
Delay between uart command or physical button press is simular.

It would be nice if somebody could analyse how cameras do (3D) sync via HERO bus cable.
I guess if HERO bus cable is connected between cameras, they enter some sort of special state where camera is waiting to start shooting.
Probably cameras will communicate via I2C or simply trigger one line on HERO bus.

Maybe 3D sync mode can be enabled with the right combination of ID pins in firmware v01.01.46?

Did you manage to measure the delay? How? How many ms is it?
Is it always exactly the same or does it change with light conditions?
Can you try with different lightning conditions? (Sunglases)

I am looking for this to work by the BUS, and with 5 cameras at once.

There is nothing simular to chdk for gopro (yet). I think there still a lot of stuff to discover before anybody can tell if we can  overriding camera parameter for example.

Not yet. Camera is current recharging ;)

Delay is cause by firmware because it does stuff like loading and extracting badpixel list before every shoot in Photo Mode.
Probably delay depends on other factors like SD-Card speed, how much files are on card, filesystem and more.

I already understand what you have in mind.

Looks like you have a "commercial" interest about this. As i'm working on this in my spare time (night) and just for "fun", don't try to rush it!

Yes. Would be quite interesting. Question is when GoPro 3D HERO becomes available and if it's possible to buy HERO sync (3D) cable (or howevery they will call it) without a complete kit. Then we could probably analyse whats going on.

The 3"D kit" will be about 90 $US for the cable and the housing for 2 cameras. Without cameras. Once it's  available.
At the moment the 3D kit is not even listed anymore on the GoPro website. It looks like we can figure this out faster than GoPro making their 3D kit available.

it has not been figured out what BUS line is used to trigger the camera.
That's what we all are looking for.
