Quite a difference in frequency between a master clock and a frame synch.
Which was it nearer to ?

I thought there was a GoPro promotional video showing stereo action movies ?
If so, does that mean the cameras were not really precision synched ?

Any idea how capture of a video frame works on these cameras ?

If the software issues an instruction to capture a movie frame NOW, does the hardware wait until a certain clock pulse state ?

I'm not sure but looking at it, I would have said it was one cycle per frame. If I get a camera connected to the analyzer again I'll post a screen shot.

I'm not sure how it all works - maybe the image sensor and cpu data sheets can reveal something, but I haven't really had a look at them.

Pair x folders on http://mikenz.geek.nz/gopro/ have pairs of photos taken of a spinning wheel. The white marker on the wheel is 1.8mm wide, on a 280mm diameter wheel. One camera was inverted and the image as been rotated, no other manipulation was done on these images.
Sorry I couldn't find any more light to point at it, that was already my desk lamp and high power headlamp.

You'll see there is a difference between the two - a quick look suggests it about 1/2 the width of the motion blur. Given a 1/30sec exposure time that'd be 1/60sec difference?

Feel free to do your own analysis - preferable a bit more accurate than mine?

Thanks, that is interesting.

All four are similar.

If you are interested in stereo action shots, the current setup will not be accurate enough.
The other problem is that the wide angle lenses would give very limited stereo depth, they would need to be replaced with M12 lenses of about 50mm equivalent focal length.

For capturing 360 degree panoramas they will be fine.

Look forward to further progress.

Very useful information.

Unusual to find such detailed schematics.

Is the GoPro sensor data PDF available anywhere ?
