Allbest, Is there any way to include autofocus and maybe optical zoom in video mode with the A650 IS? I shoot many videos of the children along with my pictures :D

Did you try some of scripts that enable zoom / manual focus ? It works on other cameras with DigicII, but don't know about A650 (digic III)

I am new to scripts. I'll certainly give one a try if you can lead me to the right one :). I am assuming you do this by putting the camera in movie mode and ALT mode, then pressing the shutter to start the script to enable autofocus/zooming while shooting the video, correct?

Hi,
to use shutdown just enter a line in script:
shut_down
The camere will shutdown in a second, retracting lens.
Tested on s3is and ewavr verifed the principle on his 710 once.

I did but it didn't shut down. it only does that when I press the print button to exit the "alt" mode

edit: weird enough, if I put the command in the middle of the script, it shuts down.
if I put it at the end, it only shuts down when I press the print button both if there is the "end" line after it or not.
if I put it after the "end" line, it doesn't do anything.

I have a script in my A630 that let me use the optical zoom... the bad news are the how loud motor lens noise is recorded... in my opinion, unusable

sometimes people dont use audio in video, you can add the sound later ;)

Awesome!  Truly, thank you Allbest and everyone else who contributed to porting CHDK to the Ixus70-SD1000.  With MF now working (nothing "psuedo" about it if you ask me, it REALLY works) and along with manual controls (shutter speed, etc.)  I have about everything I could ask for in this little camera!

All I need now is a faster way to make shutter speed adjustments (ala the very easy method of entering into MF mode) :)

I for one would not want that (unless it was a menu option that we could disable/enable).  I am not able to reproduce the issue mkmenuts described (I also have a SD1000 v1.01b).  I followed the same steps and my camera took a picture without a problem.

Focus & zoom in video? I wrote script for this. It's not a simple one, read help carrefull and configure it to your needs. At first You must learn how to copy and run script :)

Autofocus in CHDK will be nice improvement but i suppose that it will be slow and not so good as original.

I don't need clear audio. Anyway i can record audio by mp3 player and join it later.
