please, a question about ND filter: will this feature be added to A630/40 or there is any technical reason doing it impossible?

No ND filter in A6xx series

There is no physical ND filter in the A6xx series (A610, A620, A630, A640, A650).

This is good because the IXUS and A7xx cameras only have NDs because they do not have a real iris to control the aperture - so it is a workaround.

However, it is bad, because higher level cameras (the G series, from G3 through G9) have the ND filter AS WELL as real iris aperture. In this situation the ND filter is useful because it can be used in certain situations to reduce shutter speeds or open the aperture further while still preventing overexposure.

Hi Allbest,
I want to report a bug here:

       Camera Model:A720IS
       Firmware Version:1.00c

When mode dial is set to Av,with all camera settings and CHDK settings reset to default (to ensure that
I am not doing anything wrong) start the camera in playback mode. After a few seconds splash screen
       disappears(indicating loading CHDK is complete).

Now I press ALT button. And all kinds of weird things start to happen. The lens suddenly extends (but I'm
in playback mode!)and lcd display is off.Subsequent presses of buttons exhibit more weird situations:-
LCD displays "Av" for a fraction of second(which should be displayed in record mode!),and then again off.

However everything works perfect in Tv,Auto,Manual,Program mode. This problem is only in Av mode.
Hope you fix this in the next builds.

I have the same problem, same firmware version and build #34.
But instead of wap4's A720IS the unwanted switch from playback to record mode happens in ALL modes except of AUTO. It switches almost every time I press zoom in, zoom out or left / right. The shutter opens and closes and the camera returns to playback mode and so on... In earlier builds I also had this problem, but it happened much fewer...

Everything else works very fine, thanks for the great work :-)

Tiger,

I have not read anything about the A20 being ported for CHDK... The cameras currently supported are on the CHDK home page here:

http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/CHDK

If this is an older camera with the Digic I processor, as I understand, these cameras have a completely different processor and OS (MSDOS based / Intel family) and never will be supported (at least as "CHDK" in this incarnation).
