Once I have the card partitioned, can I load the binaries to the small partition and the whole group to the big partition, and expect it to work?

Or do I have to start from step 1 each time I go to a new Beta?

You only need to update the CHDK files on the two partitions, you don't need to go through the whole partitioning process again.

    Phil.
    CHDK ports:
      sx30is (1.00c, 1.00h, 1.00l, 1.00n & 1.00p)
      g12 (1.00c, 1.00e, 1.00f & 1.00g)
      sx130is (1.01d & 1.01f)
      ixus310hs (1.00a & 1.01a)
      sx40hs (1.00d, 1.00g & 1.00i)
      g1x (1.00e, 1.00f & 1.00g)

Hi, my name is Mariano, from Alicante (Spain). I've just downloaded and try this version of CHDK, and it works wonderfull!!!
But i find what i think are two bugs (i know this is a beta version). When i try to change de language, the directory looks empty, but if look at the same folder with a card reader in the PC, it contains all the language files. The same occurs when i try to load a grid.

I don't know what happend, but if this are really bugs... i'll like to put your attention on it.

Thank for a well done job.

    Mariano.

P.D. The SD card is a two partition 32GB card.

    Hello & welcome, Mariano !

... the directory looks empty, but if look at the same folder with a card reader in the PC, it contains all the language files. The same occurs when i try to load a grid.

On a multi partition setup (i.e. running CHDK with a partitined SD card, with the autoboot loading method) make sure that the files are available on the partition where the camera stores the images.

--> copy / expand all files & folders from the CHDK package to the root of BOTH partitions.

Has anyone dumped the 1.00M firmware yet?  Also are there any plans to work on versions of CHDK for firmware versions other than 1.00e, 1.00h and 1.00l?

Do you have an SX30 with firmware 1.00m?
If so you can dump it using the 'Universal Dumper' script here http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/Canon_Basic/Scripts/Dumper
Instructions for creating an SD card to run Canon Basic scripts can be found here http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/Canon_Basic

If you are able to dump the firmware send me a personal message (I will then send you my email address to send the firmware dump to).

Once the firmware has been dumped a new port can be done.
If there are people with this firmware version who can help test it then the port to a new firmware version usually doesn't take too long.

Thanks for the pointers on how to get the scripts working to dump the firmware.  Yes, I have an SX30IS with 1.00m, and I will get that dumped for you later or tomorrow.

You can also try the build for the closest Canon firmware version (100l in this case). Sometimes the differences in the Canon firmware are minor enough that the same CHDK build works on multiple versions.

If it doesn't work, your camera may crash. Usually the crash is so early in the boot process the camera appears to not start at all. In general, all you have to do to recover from this is take the battery out. We don't know of anyone who has bricked their camera doing this, but as with anything related to CHDK, it's at your own risk.

Tried, and it seems to work, haven't tested it extensively, but it didn't crash.  This'll give me something to play with until I take the time to dump the 1.00M firmware later.  Thank you, philmoz and reyalp!

In most cases, if it runs at all no new port is needed. Still good to have dump in case something crops up.
