Hi

I've been using CHDK on my A630, SX20 (got water damaged), and now my SX30.  I would have preferred to get another SX20 for the AA batteries, but it was no longer available.

I figured CHDK would help me stay on top of the battery level on my SX30, but today it let me down.  It was showing 100%, when I started to get Canon's flashing red icon.  At the time, I was using 100l.0.9.9-1083 Beta.  I have now downloaded the newest release - 1200, but haven't had time to install it.  Has this been corrected now?  I'm not complaining, because I really do appreciate all the time and effort the developers put into CHDK.  I just want to know whether or not I can rely on the battery meter.

Also, is there any option in CHDK (or maybe in the camera's own menus) to disable the Zooming Frame Assist?  I find that my thumb keeps on hitting the switch when I don't want it to.

Thanks

Blair

You may get a better answer in this forum but as I won't be back here soon,  I thought I'd mention that battery high and low voltage levels are configurable in the OSD menus.  And with many new ports,  they don't get set to "good" values early on in the porting process and so default to values that are not helpful.  No idea if the SX30 has this worked out or not but I thought I would mention it.  Link to another thread talking about that here :  http://chdk.setepontos.com/index.php?topic=5855.msg66218#msg66218

Set the Min / Max Volt setting to the values of your battery...

--> http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/CHDK_User_Manual#Battery

1) enable battery voltage on the OSD:
  • Show battery volts

2) set "Max Voltage" to the value (Voltage) shown with a fully loaded battery
3) set "Min Voltage" to the value shown before the camera powers off due to low battery

After setting the values for your battery, you can set the OSD to "Show battery percent" again...

Hello,
How can I make an 8Mb dump? I use the Canon Basic dumper on my Ixus 95 and the dump is only 4Mb.

Not sure why you are asking here, but the canon basic dumper dumps from the start of the firmware to the end of address space. Ixus95 starts at FFC00000 (unusual for an ixus, but that's whats it is), so the dump will be 4mb.
Don't forget what the H stands for.

Are you in record or playback mode? The script I posted would only work in record mode.

Phil.

Doh! I finally had a chance to pick this up again, and play/vs record mode was totally screwing me up.

What I didn't realize was that, for some reason on the SX30 (with this version of CHDK)  [bold]when you boot with CHDK the camera starts in playback mode unless you hold the power button down for a few seconds[/bold].

Luckily I'll be clamping the power button down anyway since I'm going to be cycling power frequently for the intervalometer with a timer circuit.

I have dumped the 1.00M firmware. Maybe we will have a build for that too ;-)

Thanks for that. I've done a comparison between 1.00M and 1.00L and it looks like the only changes are to the non-English menu text.

The 1.00L version should work fine on a 1.00M camera.

Let me know if you find any problems.

Phil.
CHDK ports:

  sx130is (1.01d & 1.01f)

I had a crash experience with the lastest build for 1.00L after trying to move some files in the card.
