hi again,
if somebody succeeded installing this build to a multi-partition card (4gb<) please confirm and post your method (link if possible). im at my wits end, spent a few evenings tying to put this beta - including beta4 - to my 16gb card, no success...
thanks,
g

First, you have to use Beta 4 - the earlier ones won't work.

This is what I did to test it:
1. Format SD card in camera to get one partition
2. Unpack binaries only build to SD card
3. Manual boot SD card in camera
4. Create card with two partitions (using the option in the Misc --> Debug menu). After running this wait a few seconds then power off the camera.
5. Put SD card back in PC and format it. It should now format as a 2MB SD card.
6. Unpack the binaries only build to the card again
7. Make the card bootable using whatever method you prefer
8. Lock the card, boot CHDK from the card and Swap partitions (under the Misc menu)
9. Put the card back in PC and format it again. You should now be formatting the larger partition (if it's still coming up as 2MB then try the swap partitions again).
10. Unpack the full build to the large SD partition
11. Lock the card, boot manually in the camera and Swap the partitions again.

The card should now autoboot off the 2MB partition; but swap to the large partition after booting for saving images.
If you want to copy the images off the large partition in your PC you will need to swap partitions in the camera before putting the card in your PC, then manual boot and swap back when you put the card back in the camera.

I'm getting hung up on #4 above.  When I answer "yes", nothing happens for a few seconds, then the cam shuts itself off.

The first time I followed #5, the PC saw a card much larger than 2MB.  The second time, I asked the cam to swap partitions, but it told me the card had only one.

Are you using the latest version (Beta 4)?
That was what happened in Beta 3.

If you have downloaded and are using Beta 4 let me know what firmware version you have (in case I messed up one of the versions).

Edit: Looks like I got it wrong for firmware 1.00E and 1.00L (I have 1.00H)  :-[
A new version will be uploaded shortly (Beta 5).

Regards,
Phil.

A flash with more than 4G can be done easily using SDMInstaller.
