Thank you Phil, this is awesome! I am all new to this, my SX30 is my first Canon camera and this support forum is simply mind blowing, incredible!!! So much to learn, so much to catch up with!   :)

Thanks to you I am happily using the RAW function and everything works just fine here.

Just one question, do I need to replace the CHDK folder with every beta release or just the DISKBOOT.BIN and PS.F12 files?

If a 'binaries only' build is included in the release then it's safe to just update the DISKBOOT.BIN and PS.FI2 files from that.
If I only upload a 'full build' then you should update the CHDK folder as well.

If you want you can always use the 'full build', this won't overwrite your configuration file or any custom scripts or other files you may have added.

    Regards,
    Phil.

Phil, thanks again for theese builds.
    I checked beta9 with 100h and win7 64Bit.
I checked it with a 2GB SD and a 8 GB SDHC class10. I formatted in the PC, swapped Partitions with SDM and chdk, booted from card and from menu etc.. Everything that has to do with formatting, booting and swapping partitions seemed to be stable here. Now i start to use chdk with my sx30.
    Thanks again.

I've used CHDK before with my S2IS and excited to try on my SX30IS.

I've copied all the files to the SD card. I have firmware version 1.00L.

I can't boot CHDK. The "Firm Update" option doesn't appear on the playback menu.
    - I start the camera with the playback button on the back
    - I hit the up button, but the "Firm Update" option isn't in the menu

Is there any other way to boot CHDK that I can try?

I'm using a 16G class 10 card if that matters.

    Any ideas?!

    Thanks!

If the PS.FI2 file is in the root directory of the SD card then the camera should recognise it and give you the option. It sounds like you are doing everything correctly so I don't know why it would not be there.

The card size doesn't matter if you are using the manual boot method.
If you have a card that is 4GB or less you can try creating a bootable card using CardTrick (http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/CardTricks).

Can you post the all of the firmware version details from your camera.

    Phil.

hmmm...puzzled. here's from the firmware screen:

    P-ID: 3210 NT D
    Firmware ver. 1.00L (1.0.0.0)
    Adj. Ver. .011.001
    serial number....

I tried a 4G card I had and it doesn't manually boot either.
Is there anyway to make the card autoboot without accessing CHDK initially?

    Thanks!

this is the CHDK version I'm using:
    sx30-100l-0.9.9-1006-full-Beta9

just to confirm...the "Firm Update" should be under the "Transition" menu item in the playback menu? My menu ends at "Transition."

Version info looks OK, although the version numbers I have seen usually start with GM (e.g. GM1.00H).

You can create a bootable card on your PC if you have a card reader (using the CardTricks program).
