Hi, im into making a waterproof enclosure for sx120 so i just developed a simple way to activate the shutter by means of a magnet.

Have you considered using a couple of coin batteries (3Vx2), small diode and resistor to drop the voltage and a simple Reed relay then connect the whole thing to the USB port
